Library Clerk
Livingston-Park County Public Library

  • 20 hours per week; additional substitute hours sometimes available
  • Schedule to be determined based on Library’s needs
  • $13.44 per hour plus benefits
  • Position begins as soon as possible
  • Open until filled

Responsibilities include circulating library materials, sorting and shelving materials, registering borrowers, locating materials for patrons, answering inquiries on the telephone and in person, providing basic assistance at computer workstations, assisting other library staff with duties and projects, and other duties as assigned. The Library Clerk will perform various tasks requiring a broad-based knowledge, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, a cheerful attitude, enthusiasm in helping others, and good decision-making abilities. Must be a self-starter and tolerate frequent interruption.

Expectations: Candidates should possess a thorough knowledge of the operation of basic office machines, computers, common computer software, and search engines. This position requires excellent communication skills, cash-handling, and conflict resolution skills, as well as attention to detail, skill in writing, a positive attitude, and the ability to make independent decisions on how best to assist library users. Qualifications: Two years’ experience in customer service and cash handling is required. A Bachelor’s Degree and previous library experience is preferred.
